"Googling" In A Mobile World

Author:

While search has transformed the way people use the Internet, mobile search is an untapped value source for mobile operators. Businesses and organizations are beginning to leverage the unique capabilities and advantages of the mobile environment to drive benefits to audiences. Mobile Search is expected to be the next BIG opportunity for mobile marketers and advertisers alike.

JumpTap (www.jumptap.com) - an innovator of mobile search - suggests that, while evolving rapidly, mobile search is still in its infancy stages. In fact, the top 20 mobile search queries seem to be generated from a more-youthful audience rather than corporate america:

Top 20 Mobile Search Queries
- eminem
- 50 cent
- sean paul
- shakira
- sex
- metallica
- family guy
- porn
- t.i.
- madonna
- playboy
- tetris
- reggae
- rihanna
- country
- tv theme
- theme
- game theme
- nhl
- Disney

However, as mobile search adoption rates continue to double every few months, more and more users will discover the benefits and convenience of searching-on-the-go. In a recently released Mobile Marketing Association (www.mmaglobal.com) Mobile Search Consumer Insights Research Report, it was stated that:

- The average mobile user has conducted 8.9 searches in the past month with their mobile devices

- The highest rate of search (15.62% permonth) occured in the middle income households

- 49% of those not using mobile search were "very/somewhat" interested in trying it within the next few months
